Common Name: Swamp hibiscus Latin Name: Hibiscus grandiflorus Family: Malvaceae Habit: A large herbaceous perennial that grows to 10 feet in height. Leaves: Alternate, velvety, somewhat heart-shaped, with irregular margins that have blunt teeth. Flowers: Large pink flowers that appear in the summer and fall. Habitat: Marshes, swamps and other wet areas. Landscape: Grows in full sun with moist to wet soils. Wildlife use: The flowers provide a nectar source for a variety of insect pollinators.
